I agree, however, I think old metods still do work to an extent. It’s not worth going through thouthands of places manually anymore, but I still think that it’s pretty usefull to submit to directories using semi-automated tools like http://www.easysubmits.com and social bookmarking places with tools like http://www.socialmarker.com and others. Hubpages do give some popularity.
Nothing beats real quality links though mentioned in the blogs, comments and forum signatures don’t give much anymore either.
